Fixed and random abilites

In SplinterForge, there are two types of abilities that bosses can have: fixed abilities and random abilities. Fixed abilities are predetermined abilities that a boss will have throughout its entire lifespan, as long as it remains alive. These abilities are set in stone and do not change until the next respawn.

On the other hand, bosses also have random abilities. These abilities are randomly generated at the start of each new battle with the boss, and can vary greatly from one encounter to the next. The purpose of having random abilities is to add more variability and excitement to the game, making each battle with a particular boss feel unique and challenging in its own way.

By combining both fixed and random abilities, SplinterForge creates a balance between predictability and unpredictability. Players can strategize and prepare for the fixed abilities of a boss, but they also need to be able to think on their feet and adapt to the random abilities that may come into play during a battle. This adds an extra layer of depth to the game and ensures that players are always engaged and challenged.

NOTE: At time of publishing, rules are not live, they are only on the test server.

There are some newly implemented rules added to random abilities ONLY (meaning it can't be a fixed ability on the boss). The abilities are as follows:

  • Against all Odds - May only use odd mana cost cards.

  • Even Odds - May only use even mana cost cards.

  • Fallen Legendaries - No legendary cards may be used.

  • Peasant Infantry - Only common/rare cards may be used.

  • Training Crew - Only cards with 6 or less mana may be used.
